This was meant to be a much longer update from SDCC but, honestly I'm wiped out. I'll do more in the coming days.
On the 12th The Zombie Walk at Petco Park started well before sundown and we got to watch the festivities from the safety of the Trickster Balcony along with Protege's Terence Anthony. Saw a Goonies/TMNT reunion with Cory Feldman, Sean Astin, "Chunk", and the woman who voiced April O'Neal on the cartoon. All while standing next to the Batmobile display. ONLY at SDCC can you do that.
As for awesome comics that we picked up -
These two ladies are awesome!! Josh has been reading Spike's Templar Arizon for over a year now and we picked up volumes 3-4. And I just HAD to pick up Daina Nock's Intrepid Girlbot. Not only because it's about robots, but because it is a "silent" comic. No words. We chatted for a bit and it was cool to learn that she started her book for the same reason I started my LD 30 strips.

I also got to see my dream car up and close. KITT from Knightrider. I love this car. When I'm rich, I'm totally customizing one.
This week sees us off to San Diego Comic Con. We don't have a table, but will be walking around alot and probably spending most of our time in Small Press and at Trickster located on 7th and J Street. Josh looks very much like the splicer in Tip of the Spear pt. 2. I'll probably be harder to spot as my hair has changed since working on Utopiates, but if you spy us, please feel free to say "hello".
Anime Expo in just one week!! Come see us at A29.
Also, check out the audio comic of our other series, Titanium Rain. The link is to the left or you can go to TitaniumRainAudio.com . The Audio Comics Company did a fantastic job and there is tentative talk of them adapting Utopiates as well. Please give it a listen. If you like what you hear you can download it from iTunes, Amazon.com, or purchase a CD from the ACC's website or from us at Anime Expo.
I gotta say it again, Utopiates is at the printers!!!
The graphic novel will be 116pgs. when it comes out and it will be digest size. I'm so excited!!! So, for everybody who have already pre-ordered through Amazon.com, Thank you! I'm sorry about all the delays but it is at the printer and should be off to you on time.
For those who haven't pre-ordered yet, now is the time to do it.
Awe
some News! The great guys at Comic Book of the Month Podcast interviewed Josh and I last Friday. We mostly talked about our other project, Titanium Rain and the audio comics adaptation that is coming out soon. But we do talk about Utopiates a bit.
So I highly encourage all of you to check these guys out. Not just our show, but the podcast in general. They were incredible hosts and gave us one of the best interviews we have ever had. This is quite a group.

I don't care what they call it, CISPA = SOPA. It's the same thing. Yes, the internet DOES need regulation but not like this. not without due process and not just because some corporation thinks that your content is competition. Obama has already said that he will veto it if it passes in Congress. We just have to convince Congress that it should never pass. Please click on the link and tell your lawmakers what you think. http://act.demandprogress.org/letter/obama_cispa/%20%20?akid=1325.1544319.lyScd5&rd=1&t=2

Sorry about not having any blog last week. It's been really hectic here as we close in on summer… as you can see, Josh is preparing to do battle at the next convention we attend.
Ok, new survey time. If you like to read your books/graphic novels on a digital reader, what do you prefer?
Kindle, Nook, iPad, iBookstore, something else? Let me know.

And Last, anybody going to Anime Expo in Los Angeles in June? If so, look us up!
I always wanted a music cue at the end of this page. That dramatic sound you would always get in mysteries when something was revealed. Similar to what Brak keeps doing in Tales of Suspense.
But anyway,
Ok, the last few pages we've posted I've taken some time out to promote the Kickstarter to my friend Mike Colber's book, Crazy Mary. Well I'm going to make one more push, and then I'll be done… at least till the last week.
Rick Remender, Bill Corbett (Crow T. Robot) of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Tony Lee of Doctor Who and adult film star Kelly Shibari all support this book. If you haven't seen it yet, please take a moment to read the 12pg. story "Trail of Tears" on the Crazy Mary website. If you like it, consider donating to Kickstarter. The first five fans of Utopiates that contribute $5 or more and come back here and leave message will get a sticker. The first two fans who contribute $20 or more will get a signed copy of the rare first issue of Utopiates along with the sticker. If ANY fan of Utopiates decides to pledge $50 or more to Crazy Mary, I will send you a signed copy of the upcoming Utopiates graphic novel along with a sticker. This all is MY own incentives. You will also receive all of the promised incentives on the Crazy Mary Kickstarter.
Also, becides Crazy Mary being created by a good friend of ours, Utopiates' very own Josh Finney co-wrote one of the stories that will be featured in the book.
So, If you decided to participate, please leave a comment below so we can applaud you publicly, then send me an email using the contact page.
As another Kickstarter shout out, Bill Corbett of MST 3K and Rifftrax has a Kickstarter of his own. I highly suggest you at least watch his video on it.
Ok, enough about other people, lets talk Utopiates!
As I mentioned before the graphic novel is well on it's way to being completed. Josh is putting the finishing touches on coloring issuing 4 and then it's off to the printer!
With that said, Josh and I will be at Anime Expo in June debuting the graphic novel for all to see! I hope you can come to the show if you are in the LA area. We will also have copies of our last series, Titanium Rain along with previews of our next comics venture, World War Kaiju.
As always, thank you all for reading and supporting Utopiates!
